Silicone resistance heaters are installed under each black metal hood that covers the front of the transmitter and receiver heads to prevent blowing snow from clogging the sensor's optical path. Thermostatically controlled to automatically turn on at 3° C and off at 8° C. With AC powered sensors, each hood heater consumes 25 W of power from a 24 VAC transformer in the Sentry Electronics Enclosure. With 12 VDC powered sensors, each hood heater consumes 6 W of power from the 12 VDC input power.
